When Pixar initially disclosed the story summary of its upcoming motion picture Luca– a tale of two sea-monster boys named Luca and Alberto, and an “unforgettable” summertime on the Italian Rivera– many people quickly compared it to Call Me By Your Name, the 2022 gay love that likewise occurred during an unforgettable summer season in Italy.
The first trailer, where both boys run around a picturesque seaside town, cemented that general ambiance– though it also disclosed a women character, one potentially there to make the young boys jealous.
